Maui's Submissions Workshop

Posted 12 years ago    7 comments

About 70 people gathered in the Raglan Town Hall Supper Room last Wednesday evening for the first meeting in a review of the Maui Dolphin Threat Management Plan with DOC and Ministry for Primary Industries. Three camera crews were there as well. We were very pleased to see such a large turnout. It really shows that this community cares.

DOC’s Marine Species Team put out their answer to the community’s calls to action: We DO want to save the Maui’s. We need your help to do it. Stand behind us. Make a submission.

KASM will be holding an info session...

  • Thursday Nov 8th @ 5pm, Supper Room (Town Hall).
  • Followed by a submissions workshop @ 6pm

Please watch this space for more info.

Drop into WEC at the Town Hall if you have any questions about submissions. Our computer is available for your use to research and submit online.

Could you donate an old mobile phone to WEC?

The time has come for WEC to join the 21st century and get a mobile phone! This will be used mainly for texting.

Do you have an old mobile phone that you could donate to WEC? It would be great if it was in working order, and had a charger (although we can probalby find a charger up at Xtreme).

Thanks for your help,

Anna & Bexie

Maui's Dolphin Threat Management Plan Hui

Posted 12 years, 1 month ago    4 comments

The Ministry of Primary Industries and Department of Conservation (DOC) are seeking feedback from tangata whenua, stakeholders and public on the review of the Maui's dolphin portion of the Hector's & Maui's Dolphin Threatened Management Plan (TMP).  A covering letter is attached with additional information, including the process for submitting submissions.

As part of the consultation process, staff from DOC's Marine Species and Threats Team are travelling the country, meeting and consulting with tangata whenua, stakeholders and public to discuss the Maui Dolphin Threatened Management Plan (TMP)
Given the historical community association in Raglan with this special toanga reflected in the annual Maui Dolphin Day, this is an excellent opportunity to discuss and review the TMP and ask any questions
