Richard Heinberg will be speaking in Hamilton on Monday 1st October at 12pm-2pm. For event details please see the flyer attached below.

Conservation week - Meet a Kiwi, a possum and more @ WEC

We have several pest animal and bird specimens here @ WEC this week, thanks to DOC. Come into WEC this week to see a kiwi, kaka, ruru, tui, shining cuckoo, keruru as well as possum, ferret, weasel and ferrel cat. These are high-quality taxidermy specimens giving you a chance to get a closer look at what is (and could be) on our Karioi Maunga

 

DOC has graciously loaned these specimens as part of Conservation Week. Check out the Conservation Week Programme, including our Pest Control Workshop this Saturday 15th 9am - noon, followed by a shared lunch, at the Town Hall. See flyer attached here.

Sirocco the Kakapo on Maungatautari

Sirocco Nocturnal Experience

Sirocco. He's been billed as a national treasure, a living legend and a rockstar.

He's charismatic, enigmatic and intriguing, he commands his own seat in an aeroplane,

and has more than 11,000 Facebook fans.

 Sirocco is the champion bird for the New Zealand Kakapo Recovery programme and he
 is coming to Maungatautari for a very special visit.  This will be your only opportunity this year to get up close and personal
with one of New Zealand's most precious taonga. You will need to get in quickly because the Sirocco experience is for 6 weeks
 only and tickets are expected to sell out!  Find information about the visit and booking details.
